PUTTING A LITTLE LOVE INTO THE LIVING ROOM

As we are entering into the spring months, freshening up the living room with a few tweaks can give this much visited area of the home a new lease of life. If your living room is strapped for space, avoid using too many bold colours and patterns. Maintaining a soothing tone throughout will create a spacious feel and be easier on the eye. Choosing a circular coffee table over a rectangular model will provide more space to walk around it, and side tables with drawers or shelves built-in below are an easy solution to keep the room organised and clutter-free. For larger living rooms, textiles are a great way to make a room feel instantly cosy, so add a rug, cushions, a throw and some dramatic curtains and the effect can be truly transformational. For a room that feels cold and lacks personality, consider a feature wall, a statement armchair or a large piece of artwork to inject character into the space, as well as adding your own artistic expression. In terms of trends, block-like modular seating has become an increasingly popular offering, not only offering versatility by allowing you to have different seating arrangements, but also lower and more casual lounging – making the concept of “comfort” the real focus. Seating with high backs and armrests can appear quite formal, and therefore in recent times it has featured less within new contemporary collections.

The new version of the Camaleonda modular sofa from B&B Italia possesses all the classic elements from its past but it has also been redesigned to add even more comfort and sustainability – using recycled or recyclable materials (www.bebitalia.com).
