Maison & Objet will be expanding its creative domain over the next two years, with its first fair in Asia and the launch of an exhibition in Miami. Following a revamped Maison & Objet autumn show in Paris in September, with a 2.5 per cent increase in exhibitor numbers, the organisers highlighted the event’s “vital role in the sector, despite the slow recovery of the business climate in Europe”; and announced plans for Asia and Americas fairs from 10 to 13 March 2014 and 12 to 15 May 2015, respectively, as well as the next editions in Paris (24-28 January and 5-9 September) and Paris Design Week from 8 to 14 September.
Drawing on an “Energies” them, which influenced three inspirational areas proposed by the Maison & Observatory, the September 2013 edition in the “Capitale de la Création” featured a presentation of the work of architect Odile Decq, Maison & Objet designer of the year for 2013 and an introduction of six up-andcoming French designers with the new “Talents à la Carte” selection (Raphael & Rehean, Grégoire de Lafforest, Evor, Emmanuel Bossuet, Bien des Choses and Barnabé Fillon).
In a further move to boost business and extend creativity into the city, the third Paris Design Week involved 250 participants at 183 Parisian venues in a trade show fringe event.
