INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S GOLF AT FINCA CORTESÍN
The Costa del Sol will be in the global golf spotlight in September when it hosts the first Solheim Cup to be held in Spain. Pitting Europe’s top golfers against their American counterparts, in the women’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup, the event will be held at Finca Cortesín from 22 to 24 September. In the lead up to the tournament, BMW Automotor Premium was formally presented in Marbella as the event’s sustainable official car. The company will be providing a fleet of all-electric cars for the tournament, more than 40 in total, and all electric and distributed among such innovative models as I7, IX, XM, IX1 and I4. According to the organisers’ calculations, this will result in a saving of around seven tonnes of CO2 emissions. Alfonso Rodríguez, divisional director and managing director of BMW and Mini of the Safamotor Group, said during the official announcement at BMW’s dealership showroom in Puerto Banús that “around 35,000 kilometres will be covered during the week of the event, which will translate into more than six tonnes of CO2 emissions not emitted into the atmosphere. We have to work tirelessly to make the world a better place and to make the event com pletely sustainable thanks to electrified vehicles.”
