SUSPENSION LIGHTING – September/October 2022

A LIGHT BULB MOMENT

The world of lighting is, to say the least (and pardon the pun), an illuminating one. Collections are becoming so rapidly advanced in technology, design and versatility that there are endless options to cater for any lighting requirement, whether it is for decorative or functional purposes. When considering lighting solutions for your home, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Choosing specific fixtures for the job in hand may mean a number of different lamps for one room to make the space feel welcoming. The way that the room is used is especially relevant, together with the lamp’s size and design style. There are three types of lighting to consider when entering into this field: task, accent and ambient lighting. Task lighting is customarily a lamp that offers direct lighting such as for reading, cabinet or mirror lighting, while accent lighting highlights certain features such as a painting, shrubbery or fountain. Ambient lighting adds soft illumination, making the living space cosy, but it is not necessarily ideal for reading. In conclusion, buy lamps that work for your way of living, and have fun shopping around as there are some fabulous options available.
