Your Home Styling New Scandinavian Showroom on the Costa del Sol

Your Home Styling’s newly opened furniture store at Centro Nordico on the Mijas Road is all about interior design and “turning houses into homes”. Owner Martin Rance has been working with Scandinavian furniture for many years and decided now was the time to bring some of these great brands to the Costa del Sol.

Your Home Styling can assist with planning, researching, coordinating and managing enhancement projects and show flats, and they also offer turn-key furniture packages in all price ranges. “By working independently,” says Martin, “Your Home Styling is not confined to only offering furniture from one specific partner, which makes the styling unique and means it is possible to provide the most appropriate personalised offers – at reasonable prices.”

Nomad Studio One

Meeting the Challenge – for Charity

Charities play a big part of Christmas, and this year the owner of Nomad Studio One took up a challenge by the staff and founder of One Eden Spain to cycle from Spain to the Gibraltar office dressed up as Elvis Presley – and to then spend the day dressed as the “King”. A chilling thought, he mused, but – given that several pledges for charity followed – Shawn agreed to the challenge and proceeded to buy a suitable Elvis costume for the event.

The staff of One Eden were eagerly watching the Gibraltar frontier entry cameras for proof of Shawn crossing, and proceeded to ensure that several videos were made of him performing with a guitar around the offices and during client meetings.

“After the initial embarrassment of getting on to the bike and cycling off,” says Shawn, “I was expecting the worst at the frontier queue and passport control. However, it was really strange to pass through without even a snigger or check, nor to be asked to remove the wig or sunglasses as proof of ID. It seems that the sight of someone dressed in a white diamond-encrusted jump suit on a bicycle with a guitar on their back was just like any other day.

“It was a great experience and there were so many generous pledges. I am thrilled to have raised money for the combined charities of the GBC Gibraltar Open Day.”

Metamorfoza

Marbella Store Merges with A Cielo Abierto

Located in the Oasis Business Centre in Marbella, garden furniture store Metamorfoza has become a household name on the Costa del Sol in just one year of operation. Now, this success has quickly translated into the takeover of a new business in Benissa near Calpe, where the same quality and values apply.

A Cielo Abierto has also been a household name in the Calpe area for more than 20 years, and it has therefore been decided to change the name Metamorfoza to A Cielo Abierto. This will allow the newly merged businesses to continue their marketing with a clear message that highlights their shared values of excellent service and quality.

United Nationalities of Marbella

Summit Tackles the issues Faced by Marbella’s Youth

The Harbour Marbella hosted the United Nationalities of Marbella Summit in November, once again bringing together community-minded individuals and businesses to help others. The aim of the event was “to shine a spotlight on the problems that the younger generation of international residents are facing, including a lack of career opportunities and work experience, and the alarming increase in suicide attempts by 10-24 year olds”.

Led by Nicole King and Georgina Shaw, the event united influential members of the community, business leaders, suicide prevention charities and representatives of Marbella Town Hall to brainstorm how to help the youth of Marbella.

Nicole King urged people to take action to make Marbella a better place for the younger generation. She asked for support from businesses and individuals in creating safe hangout spaces for teens, offering more internships and career opportunities for youngsters, and expanding the suicide prevention hotline from La Barandilla to 24-7 and having Spanish and English speakers available.

“Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s United Nationalities event,” said Nicole. “It was really dynamic and I was delighted to see so many people committed to taking action and making things better for the kids growing up in Marbella right now. Now is the moment to tackle these issues and provide solutions for Marbella’s international youth, and we look forward to taking practical steps to solving the issues that we discussed in the coming weeks. I would love to hear from anyone who can dedicate their time, or offer their services, experience or venue, to help our future generations.”
