VILLA NAYA

ELEGANT BOUTIQUE RESORT IN EXOTIC BALI

The adventure began with a deep love for Bali that was triggered in 2017 during their first visit to the Indonesian island resort. “We stepped into a world of amazing design and wonderful classic Balinese architecture,” recall Johan and Gitte Hellke, owners of Escandi Design on the Costa del Sol. “So one part of our trip was always focused on the furniture and design but in the back of our minds we always had the idea of having something of our own in Bali.” Now that dream has been realised with the launch of Villa Naya, a luxurious boutique resort for intrepid holidaymakers seeking an exotic getaway with a cutting-edge touch of sophistication. The exclusive holiday complex comprises two master bungalows with their own living room and bedroom, and four single bungalows, with king-size beds and the comforts of a first-class hotel room. All bungalows have their own bathroom with artisan bathtubs in either stone or terrazzo, as well as a private breakfast terrace. Villa Naya extends over 2,500 square metres of well-maintained gardens, with two large pool areas and custom-made sunbeds. A covered veranda is ideal for dinner gatherings or for lounging and chilling-out, and in-house staff are on hand all day to serve cold drinks and light snacks. Johan picks up the story… “After several trips to Bali we fell more and more in love with the island and its people. We became close to so many amazing

people, and started to feel a real connection. And that is when we realised we needed something in Bali we could call home. “Months passed and suddenly a friend called and said he had a house, or more like a mini resort, that his uncle owned and which had been aban doned. Shortly after, we received the first video – just a jungle with some evidence of a few small buildings, in the middle of two vast rice fields on the other side of the world. Any normal person would have run in the other direc tion but in my mind it was settled. To my surprise, my wife saw what I saw: a hidden gem.” Six months later, after lots of hard and loving work by a local team, Villa Naya (named after their daughter) was ready – a mix of cool Scandinavian style, tropical Balinese architecture and even some Hawaiian touches. The villa resort also showcases furniture and decoration from Escandi Design. “Our idea has always been to use Villa Naya as a hub for creating new col lections and finding inspiration, while also renting it out to anyone who would like an extraordinary holiday in the island of gods. “The villa has six staff who will do everything for you. An amazing breakfast in the morning, a cappuccino to die for, or a mouth-watering drink by one of the pools… We have created our oasis and we would like to share that with you.” www.villanaya.es / www.escandidesign.com
