PEDRAS SALGADAS
Once a holiday destination for royalty, the Pedras Salgadas spa and nature park has been transformed into a modern-day four-star resort for tourists seeking a tranquil and environmentally friendly getaway.
The park is located in northern Portugal, one hour and twenty minutes by car from Porto, at an altitude of 580 metres. It extends over 20 hectares, with eight kilometres of paths blending in with the natural surroundings.

Seven “eco houses” are situated in the heart of the park. Designed by architect Luís Rebelo Andrade, their modern amenities include cutting-edge technology, a fully-equipped kitchenette and a spacious outdoor deck.
The thermal spa, renovated by architect Siza Vieira, offers a wide selection of massages, spa and beauty treatments, as well as an indoor pool with water circuits, sauna and Turkish bath; while the authentic delicacies of the Trás dos Montes regional cuisine can be savoured on the terrace of the Casa de Chá restaurant, with stunning views over the park.

The path through Pedras Salgadas follows a natural course to the hot springs; and the resort’s imposing main avenue provides access to other facilities including an outdoor pool and bar serving snacks, miniature golf, a playground and paddle boat trips on the lake.
Featuring high mountains and deep valleys, the region is one of Portugal’s most productive areas. Port wine, olive oil and honey are its most renowned products, and almonds, apples, cherries, chestnuts, potatoes, cereals and mushrooms are also produced in the region.

The Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region also offers a rich architectural and cultural heritage, just one reason why it was dubbed by novelist and poet Miguel Torag as the “Marvellous Kingdom”.
