COMES TO MARBELLA… AT PUENTE ROMANO BEACH RESORT & SPA
Celebrated chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, who owns 35 restaurants around the world, has now opened his 36th in the prestigious Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa in Marbella. It has the honour of being the first Nobu restaurant in Spain, and joins the resort’s already huge and impressive portfolio of restaurants, including the Michelin two-star Dani García establishment.
Nobu is renowned for fusing Japanese cuisine with Peruvian influences, and Nobu in Marbella offers such signature classics as Black Cod Miso, Tiradito and Yellowtail Jalapeño, while also including dishes that have intriguingly taken their inspiration from Marbella itself.
Nobu is also famous for its innovative cocktails made by expert mixologists, who weave their magic on the terrace – further enhancing the vibrant ambience of the resort’s Plaza Village gastronomic hub.
Interior designer Jean-Pierre Martel, together with Studio PCH, designed the restaurant to create a contemporary, natural feel and look with wooden floors, ceilings, walls, tables and chairs highlighted by the white accents of seat cushions, tableware and napkins. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, an open kitchen and soft lighting to provide a welcoming ambience.
This is not the only Nobu project planned for Marbella. They are also in the throes of developing a new boutique hotel that will offer a select number of luxurious suites and a holistic approach for distinguished guests, as well as priority bookings for the Nobu restaurant, Natura Bisse amenities and a private swimming pool.
If Nobu hotel guests prefer to dine privately in their room or by the private pool, there will also be a 24-hour room/pool service in which dishes from the restaurant are brought to them. As Trevor Horwell, chief executive of Nobu Hospitality, explains, “Nobu Hotel Marbella will drive an experience balancing fun and luxury to create an enthralling destination in keeping with the interests and needs of our global Nobu customer.”
The Nobu dining room is open from 7pm to 1am every night, and the Nobu Lounge offers a bar menu from 7.30pm and serves cocktails accompanied by music from live DJs until 4am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
