Enjoying a magnificent beachfront setting, the Sea Grill restaurant is part of the luxurious Puente Romano Beach Resort. As soon as you enter the bright ambience of the restaurant, with views out over the sea, and are welcomed by the friendly staff, you know you have found the perfect place for an outstanding Mediterranean lunch or dinner. Unfortunately for us, it wasn’t a particularly sunny day, but the interior of the Sea Grill is so well-lit, and has such a pleasant atmosphere, it almost feels like summer inside. When the sun did come out, the contemporary white, raised roof structure, built by Cape Reed, reflected beautiful lighting and gave the restaurant a stylish tropical feel.
The Sea Grill restaurant opened three years ago and is still run by head chef
Thomas Stork, and sous chef Sergio de la Plata. The staff are not just friendly:
they also have a great deal of knowledge about their products and wines, which
is exceptional, because there is an enormous variety of the latter. The wine
cellar contains around 130 different wines, in all price ranges. You can have an
amazing and very well-priced Spanish rosé, La Rosa, for €33; or, for those with a
little higher budget, a Petrus A.O.C. Pomerol.
We began with a pleasant glass of rosé cava while checking out the menu. This
was not easy, as there is so much to choose from. We opted for tuna carpaccio
with avocado and a tiger prawn cocktail, spiced up with a sweet and sour sauce.
Then tandoori jumbo Madagascar prawn on a bed of fresh vegetables – a
feast for the eyes, with the tenderness of the meat and the Indian spices
superb. Every dish is extremely well presented, but even more important…
sublimely delicious as well.
During the weekends (Friday to Sunday) there is a full buffet for €69, and
full means really full. It contains a salad bar with all kinds of salads, including
humus, baba ganoush, Russian salad, fresh asparagus, nuts and dried figs to
name just a few. There is a good selection of cheeses and a barbecue, but
you can also choose any fish or meat dish, which the chefs prepare while
you wait.
For any occasion, whether you would like to plan your wedding at the Sea
Grill or just have a light snack, the experience is certain to be memorable.
