STORAGE – March April 2023

ORDER IN THE HOUSE

A designer home doesn’t necessarily have to be a sprawling villa. Small can also be beautiful – it is just a question of applying creative storage solutions in order to keep the home organised and aesthetically attrac tive. Medical studies have proven that clutter can raise cortisol levels, thus increasing stress – which is why walking into a room that is orderly and well thought out is immediately both welcoming and relaxing. Improving your storage solutions can make a room instantly feel much larger. If floor space is limited, hit the walls! Shelving units are excellent space-saving options to maintain floors clear. If you have a very large room, floor shelving can also be a great way to divide the space, as well as providing a resting place for household objects. If you want to get really creative with storage solutions, employ a profes sional to design bespoke cabinetry for your home. There are also design ers who specialise in the area of hidden spaces. That is to say that they design shelving or bookshelves that are also doors, concealing a safe, storage room or simply another living space, for example. This might seem very James Bond but they are becoming increasingly popular in luxury contemporary builds.
